Technical Education Webinar Series - Free 1-Hour Webinar Sponsored by National Instruments

Overview:
Balanced amplifier approaches are popular in RF applications due to a number of implicit advantages of the topology. Using the approach in the microwave region has been challenging, mainly due to the difficulty in creating an anti-phase power splitter/combiner or Balun. This webinar will demonstrate the use of AXIEM EM simulation tools to create a 50% bandwidth planar Balun and harmonic balance simulation of a 200W GaN transistor to design a High Power Push-Pull Amplifier.

Presenter Bio:
Dr. Dominic FitzPatrick has specialised in RF & Microwave Solid State Amplifier technology since 1984. As Technical Director of two British microwave amplifier companies he was responsible for technological innovation and new product development, serving customers worldwide. In 2007 he began a three year research project at Cardiff University focussed on novel ultra wideband design techniques, a PhD programme funded by the UK Defence Technology Centre. In 2010 Dominic founded PoweRFul Microwave to provide a design resource to the international RF & Microwave community for power amplifiers. Dominic's other credentials include a B.Sc. in Electrical & Electronic Engineering and a Masters in Solid State Microwave Physics, both from Portsmouth University. He has an Industrial Studies Diploma jointly awarded by Portsmouth Polytechnic and the Marconi Company. Dominic's technical papers and articles are listed under the Publications tab at powerful-microwave.co.uk.
