W5G is the 5G modulation waveforms library, inclusive of test benches and phased-array features, that works seamlessly with Visual System Simulator™ (VSS) system-level design software. This 5G library gives VSS users access to current 5G candidate signals. Each candidate signal is then implemented as a fully parameterizable block with source subcircuits exposing adjustable parameters such as carrier frequency, sub-carrier spacing, number of sub-carriers, filtering, and sub-carrier mapping.
Additionally, the associated test benches enable users to readily perform adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR) and error vector magnitude (EVM) measurements.
VSS offers pre-configured test benches that can be used by component and system designers, including some of the latest 5G signals and frameworks proposed by various industry groups. One of them is the framework proposed by the Verizon 5G Technology Forum (http://www.5gtf.org/), a partnership between a number of industry leaders in the 5G area, focused on 28/39 GHz fixed wireless applications.
This group has currently released preliminary 5G specifications that improve upon the LTE-A architecture with enhanced channel bandwidths of 90 MHz, and carrier aggregation of up to 8 component carriers, resulting in operating bandwidths of up to 1 GHz.
The VSS test benches implement the Verizon 5G signal generation and receiver functionality, and are pre-configured to perform a number of common measurements such as adjacent channel power ratio (ACPR), error vector magnitude (EVM), spectral and many other types of measurements. Our customers can insert their 5G component or sub-system designs into the test benches and evaluate their performance under the requirements of 5G systems.
