Aalto University Students Design a 1.6 GHz Doppler Radar Using NI AWR Software

Students attending Finland’s Aalto University Microwave Engineering II master course used NI AWR Design Environment software to design a 1.5 GHz Doppler radar on a single printed-circuit board (PCB) using surface-mount passive and active components. The software’s ease of use enabled the students to fully focus on the design challenges at hand as opposed to learning disparate tools. Associate Professor Villa Vikari commented that after completing the course, students felt confident and capable to tackle real-world microwave engineering design challenges.
