Helsinki Metropolia University Students Learn Power Amplifier Design Using NI AWR Software

Electronics students at Helsinki Metropolia University are successfully embracing the challenges of power amplifier design with the use of NI AWR Design Environment, in particular Microwave Office circuit design software. In addition to the lectures and select hands-on laboratory assignments, the electronics faculty includes computer-aided design (CAD) exercises into their course work to give the students a practical view on matching methods and microstrip circuits in the design of passive and active microwave circuits.

“In teaching both basics of microwave engineering, as well as more advanced circuit design, we have found that Microwave Office is an ideal tool for our purposes,’’ said Professor Heikki Valmu, head of the electrical engineering and automation technology departments at Metropolia.
