New NI AWR Software Application Note Describes the Design of an Evanescent Mode Circular Waveguide Filter


This NI AWR software application note describes the design of two evanescent mode circular waveguide filters that extend ham radio operation, typically operating at below 30 MHz today, to 10 GHz. NI AWR Design Environment, specifically Microwave Office circuit design software, was used to design the filters and the software’s ability to optimize the design while simultaneously accounting for resonator spacing, insertion loss and return loss was key to the project success.

This new application note is a complement to a previous application note, Design of a 10 GHz Low-Noise Amplifier for Amateur Radio Operation, as both of these components are essential for ham radio station operation at 10 GHz.
